Paul San Martín

Born in San Sebastián (1979). He has a degree in Jazz Piano, Blues is his great passion since he started playing the classical piano when he was twelve. His first contact with Blues was through the 60’s Rhythm & Blues British bands. It carries on the stage since the age of 15 and currently he is immersed in the blues pianistic tradition, styles such as the Stride and Boogie Woogie. In 2011, his first solo album came to light thanks to Gaztelupeko Hotsak seal, "Tracks", a record where we can listen to the piano and the vocalist. His influences include, among others, Alan Price, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roosevelt Sykes, Memphis Slim, Otis Spann, Sunnyland Slim, Dr. John, Professor Longhair, and James Booker.

With his band, Stay blues, he took part in different Blues festivals and participated for five consecutive years in the San Sebastian Jazz festival. In the summer of 2007, the band released their first album.

In addition, Paul San Martin collaborates with different bands. With the French harmonica player Nico Wayne Toussaint, the trio The Romanticos, or the Soul-Jazz band, Soulbros. Also, and in a timelier manner, he has collaborated with the anglo-libanes guitarist Otis Grand, with Gerry Hundt, great architect of the Chicago blues mandolin, with the pianist Lluís Coloma, or with the legendary legend of Blues, Billy Boy Arnold. Last year, Paul released, again together with G. Hotsak, his latest work to piano and voice, "Paul’s Mood", a new piano immersion in the different styles of Blues.
